Disable AutoFormat of
Hyperlinks in MS Office
By Laura
Noble
| When a web link or email
address is entered into a MS Office file such as a Word document, an
Excel spreadsheet or a PowerPoint presentation, MS Office automatically
changes the entry into a hyperlink. Refer to the sample below on the
right.
This feature can be
permanently disabled.
- Select Tools,
AutoCorrect Options.
- Click the
AutoFormat As You Type tab.
- In the Replace As
You Type section, remove the checkmark from the Internet and
network paths with hyperlinks.
- Click OK.
| |
| If it is not
required to permanently disable this feature, click the UNDO
icon (or Ctrl + Z) immediately after a web link or email address insertion
and the AutoFormat will disappear as shown in the sample below
on the left.
OR, right-mouse
click on the hyperlink and select Remove Hyperlink. |

| Note:
These instructions are for versions 2002 and up. Exact commands
may vary in lower versions of MS Office. |
